The Coaching Process

Many people ask, "What does a Life Coach do, exactly?" Let's spend a few moments to explore that.

In its simplest form, coaching is a partnership that is formed between you and your coach to ultimately deliver a greater sense of fulfillment and well-being for you in your life. This is accomplished by you achieving greater clarity about your values, gifts, talents and life purpose and then translating this into your own definition of fulfillment and success. Your coach utilizes a set of specific tools and techniques that provides a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for you to explore these areas for yourself, then enables you to clearly articulate the results that you desire in any or all areas of your life. This then creates the basis for an action plan in which you commit to specific, measurable activities that propel you towards your desired results and ultimately, a more fulfilled life.

The coaching engagement typically involves three to four sessions per month. Studies have shown that this frequency accelerates your progress and builds momentum in your movement towards your goals. The sessions usually last thirty to forty minutes, an ideal length to ensure focus on what is truly important to you. Sessions are conducted over the phone or, if you request, at your home or office. The initial engagement is three months, which is usually considered the minimum time required for you to gain clarity on yourself and your life and to begin accelerating you towards your goals and dreams. Many clients continue on past the initial three months to maintain this tremendous momentum they now have or to simply deepen their own personal exploration. Either way, it is your agenda.
